The Child of the Forest and the Cursed Tree
The Child of the Forest and the Cursed Tree
By Shade the AshClad
I am an animal.
The forest is my home.
The trees are my playground.
The wilderness, I roam.
Young
Wild
Free
It is this way that I want to be
But this forest, once large and mighty,
a beautiful fabric in which land is dressed,
is now tattered by wars and tyrants.
What this is now, is a wilderness oppressed.
Sad
Afraid
Lost
It is this that I am forced to see
Oh, tall cedar, kindly and calm,
your clan does endure so much wrong,
but though your body is ravaged,
you are still here and ever strong.
But they are coming for flesh,
coming with teeth loud and sharp,
taking from your family,
taking our home from the scarp.
Fear not, great one, for I am here to protect you.
I would fight for you, kill for you, die if need be.
I’m promising to you while forming battle plans.
Let me be a warrior that we may stay free.
Furious
Strong
Brave
But, alas, I am only
Shade-the-AshClad
